strange as I found the same car/ picture in the website I use , as Nikken Constac

Carnut

Yes, I know that picture there and it is of course the same picture..
But I have it from a Japanese site with a different name, though closely related.
It's the name this car was usually sold as that I want; I haven't seen any other reference to 'Constac'.

Should be an easy expert point; smodmog has done most of the work...

I think Constac is correct according to most Japanese sources I can find. Maybe you're looking for LA-1 ? (I don't want a point!)

Carnut

Well, I picked it up off another Japanese site where it had the name of a quite well known manufacturer (not Nikken), so I'd like to see that other name mentioned before I award any points.

I found a Japanese site that discusses these differences. From what I could gather...

Through 1957:
Manufacturer was Nippon Keijidosha Co. (Nippon Light Machine Co.) in Kawaguchi
Product name was Nikkei Taro Light Van Type LA-1

Beginning 1958:
Manufacturer changed to Nikken Machinery Industry in Ota-ku
Product name changed to Constac Light Van Type CL

[Edit: Another source states that the name "Nikkei Taro" later became "Nikkei Jidosha" (or simply "NJ").]

Yes, that's what I was after.
It's an NJ, model name CL.  NJ might stand for Nikkei Jidosha (I believe Jidosha is Japanese for 'car') but I also have the manufacturer as Nippon Keijidosha Co. of Kawaguchi, which means 'Japanese Light Car Co.' (the well-known kei-cars being 'light cars).
Not quite sure what the Japanese characters say on the picture below.

Barrett didn't want a point so I've given it gte4289 for coming up with all the info I was after.

According to Jeremy Risdon's Pomchi book 1956-57 the puzzle car is the 1957/58 Constac CL, recognizable for example by the single piece windscreen.
And if you let Google translate CONSTAC into Japanese, the very same characters as in the last picture appear.  ;)
I'll change the header.
