What's this, from when and what was its purpose - for 1 point?:

Mercedes, just looking for which type, but well known rare car

I can't locate any information at this point but I'm sure it was featured in a classic cars magazine about a decade ago. I would estimate it's a W110 series hearse from the sixties, but have no idea yet about the coachbuilder.

Carnut

That's the easy bit...!

Mercedes 300 measuring car, currently located in the Mercedes museum at level 4 "visionaries". Vehicle was built for the testing department to record data of test vehicles.

Carnut

That was a bit easier than I thought..
However, I did ask 'from when' so I still need that before I can give you your point.
When did they build it?

Not sure how easy it is, but as said I remember a feature article in a classic car magazine of about a decade ago and since it's an interesting vehicle I remembered the geometry, the usage I didn't because my initial assumption was incorrectly a hearse. When digging for information I recalled the usage as stated in the article.

To answer your question, the build year is 1960.

Carnut

Yes, 1960 is correct.
It's described as the Mercedes-Benz Messwagen but whether that's actually an official name or just a description of what it was used for (measuring) I'm not sure.
Well done.
