The designer is Pietro Frua in the late 1960s, I think.
Perhaps a proposal for a large Volvo Coupe?

Carnut

That's right.
Which model of Volvo coupé?
Locked for you.

I can only keep it locked for you for another 24 hours though Alltag; it was due to move up to the Experts today...

Unfortunately, I have not found any exact information, so I will take a guess.

Either this design was Frua's second proposal for the Volvo 1800 ES next to his proposal 'Rocket', which is unlikely, or it was a sketch for a Volvo Coupé with the 3.0 l engine of the Volvo 164. In any case, the front is quite similar to that of the Volvo 164.  Frua used several largely identical designs for such a large 2+2 coupé for BMW, Monteverdi, AC, Opel and Chevrolet in the late 1960s.  Possibly he also tried it with Volvo.

Now I hope that I am not completely wrong.  8)

You're on the right track. It was nothing to do with the 1800 coupé but was based on the 164, which hadn't actually been released yet.
So now all I need is its name!
Still locked for you.

If I don't get it out today, I'm giving up.

Volvo coupe sport 2+2 posti

Carnut

No. It was a typical Volvo number/name, not a description of what it was.

Sorry but I've removed your other comment.  People have to find their own sources!

I'll give you one last try before moving this to the Experts and unlocking it.

Oh, I didn't know sources were supposed to be secret while guessing. My apologies.

The description is from Frua. That's exactly what it is written on the drawing. The sketch shown is from 1965. So it could be a proposal for the Volvo P172 Coupé.

Yes, that's the right answer!
They had some great designs for the P172 and they brought out the 262 coupé..
Shows those in power have little idea sometimes!

The P172 mockup has featured here a couple of times in both its formats, but this Frua drawing is new here:
