Due to the front flashers,... BMC-powered, i.e. MGB...?
Yes, but not MGB..
A one-off homebuilt?
Yes.
-
Then one step below: BMC, B-series 1500ccm-engine?
-
Yes, that's correct.
I don't know much more about this car, which doesn't seem to have a name.
So I'll lock it for you to tell me when and where it was built, which is part of all that is known about this car.
-
For me, it looks typical 60's style...
May be built in the US?
-
It does but it's quite a lot later than that. Must have been a 'retro' idea!
Not from the US.
-
Down Under?
Early Spitfire/Herald rims...
-
Australian it is.
Just the date to be established now.
Still locked for you!

A shot in the darkness: Retro-idea of the mid-eighties?
-
Actually I was wrong.
I checked the site again and it does date from around 1960.
It was bought in 1985 as an incomplete project, which was then finished finally in 1996.
It was just being sold as a "BMC kit-car" so there's nothing more I can ask as it doesn't seem to have a name!
The puzzle is therefore solved.
Here's the original photo:

I've seen a photo of this one-off special before with a name (which I don't recall off-hand!), so I will now endeavour to find it and post it here if/when I can trace it (but don't hold your breath).

Thanks Djetset.
I'll give you a point for it if you can find it.
Now there's an incentive to go digging!
