This is the chassis of a NAG-Voran V8 Type 212, of which only a few prototypes were built. With its front-wheel drive, central tube frame and independent suspension, it was too expensive compared to the standard designs.

That's it! At the beginning you were on the right track asking for the purpose of the box in front of the radiator. It was the gearbox, of course.
