Who can identify this one-off single seater? Year, chassis, engine make and capacity, and builder please. (I won't ask for the one race it ran in)

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

No interest from the Rookies, so up to the Experts.

I think it is Philipp Meub's Cooper-DKW Formula Junior

Cooper is correct.  The rest is nowhere near.

Time for the pros to try and identify this unique Cooper.

That's a Cooper with a 2000cc Osca engine raced in the 1959 US Grand Prix by Alessandro de Tomaso.

It's presumed to be a T43 Formula 2 chassis, but nobody seems to know. Doug Nye says so, so that'll do for me. In Doug We Trust.

Spot on.
Here's a partial description in a contemporary Autocar.  As far as I know, the 2-litre engine was only fitted for the Sebring race.

It makes you wonder why they went to all the trouble, especially with new bodywork and wheels. The engine was woefully underpowered and the car uncompetitive.

Thanks for the correction. I don't want to be a Master any sooner than is necessary.  ;D

Please "Alejandro de Tomaso", not "Allessandro de Tomaso". Thank you in advance

It's spelt Allesandro in the Sheldon/Rabagliato "Black Book" and I believe this is the English spelling of the name and AP is an English-language site. However, maybe D-type shpould have listened to Lady Gaga's song  ;D

He was christianed as Alejandro and I think even English speaking persons can spell that.  ;D
Alessandro is the italianised form of his name.
