Please identify this car for a point - builder, donor, engine details would be nice
Experts?
This is a 1926 Vauxhall 14/40-based special converted recently by an Australian called Joe Wilson. Additions include a post-1945 6.3-litre Blackburn Cirrus Major aero engine (turned upside down), new bodywork, an Edwardian de Dion Bouton gearbox, a Porsche 911 fan and a "Brooklands" silencer.
I am happy to award you your 100th point, and I am amazed. I thought this would last longer :) Congratulations
Thank you very much!
Another interesting puzzle, but not as difficult as might first appear. Although slightly obscured by the dappled shade, the radiator grille looks like a Vauxhall, and the overall size and shape more 14/40 than 30/98. Clearly much modified – the carburettor/supercharger blow-off outlet on the bonnet and the Brooklands silencer won't have been original; and you refer to the "builder" rather than "manufacturer" and ask for engine details, all of which suggest an entirely new engine and use of the word "special". I remember a few years back V&P selling a 14/40 with a large possibly Buick engine and there's a famous GN with a Cirrus engine . . . And the foliage behind the car might indicate a southern hemisphere location. So plenty of clues.
Nice :)
