A French Garbo microcar produced between 1980-85
Close but no
The Garbo was produced by Jean Junay with the brand name of Bambycar from 1983 to 1985
That is still not the car I am looking for, but even closer as the Bambycar was the contonuation not of the Garbo, but of the car in question. Locked for you.
Apparently, it must be a PUMA, the name given to the original GARBO produced by Vitrex in 1980-81 when it was taken over by MDP in 1981-82 and before becoming the BambyCar. It had a 49cc Peugeot engine.
Yes, the Puma had bigger headlights than the Vitrex Garbo: https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2013-42/solved-wendax-901-vitrex-garbo/msg396834/#msg396834
Thanks for the point, Wendax. I initially deduced it wasn't a Vitrex because of the tailgate handle, which isn't visible in the only rear photo I have of the Garbo.
I assume that the rear hatch was an option as I have a picture of a Puma without the tailgate and one of a Garbo with it.
