I am a little confused.. You mean Chicago and Champaign are both correct? Actually Champaign airport was owned by Ben's family.
The trophy was presented to Ben Harris for his speedster but the caption I found relating to the picture is rather obscure,
Is the model/actress Celeste Ravelle?
-
2- 1953?

Yes, it was Champaign Airport in Chicago. What kind of event? That's no hard.
The actress was under contract at MGM for 10 years. Not Celeste Ravelle.
1953 is correct!
-
Esther Williams?
-
grace Kelly?

No & no.

Debbie Reynolds?

Reynolds is correct, but not Debbie.
Locked for you!

That was a car show but the place was already mentioned before.
-
was it at the champaign airport ,Chicago?
-
The picture was taken at the champaign airport in Chicago.
The event was in Chicago too.

1953 is correct!
According to Wikipedia, Joyce Reynolds had been under contract with Warner Bros., not MGM (by 1953 the contract had expired, and her acting career was over, apparently)

I had this picture and the info from another member and I'm following this puzzle on his behalf.
This was what he wrote and I must confess I did not double check the info.
Thank you for the correction.
Now only the (easy) last bit is missing.
-
I must take fault for a few errors in this puzzle.
Francesco kept it correct, but some of my docs were mixed up.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Amazing how one picture can show and tell so many historical stories.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
One such point of my error's ; EL Monty >>
It was not MGM as I gave to Francesco, Warner Brothers is correct.
Joyce Reynolds never renewed her 10 year contract with the studious, she was once in a film that had James Cagney starting in it.
She became a mother and lived a normal life.
Celeste Ravelle, was a model for a number of years and must have been part of promotions Ben did, and sh is in another picture we have with Ben and the Speedster.
There is yet another model with the Speedster at a 1937 showing by Invitation, and another picture with what we believe to be Marylyn Monroe in 1953 or 1954 time frame, not sure, but we assume Indy or Chicago.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hiawatha;
Date, I was hoping someone here might know a definitive time, it could be 1950-1953, perhaps we will never know exactly !!!!!!!!!!!!
I must admit, I was FISHING !!
Airport, Champaign Illinois is the location, even though we have knowledge of Ben being involved in the Chicago airport also.
Ben sold Airplanes also, flew/taxied Harley Earl and Ed Cole from GM and others.
TIGHAR is the autopuzzles of Aviation History, they are also the one's behind the continual mystery and search for Amelia Earhart., and her plane wreckage. http://tighar.org/smf/index.php/topic,1732.msg38214.html#msg38214
Lil Spook was a midget racing plane as guessed; and is pictured in a link in full glory in this TIGHAR link
This outdated series from decades ago, is now know as;
Formula 1 Air Racing
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Grancor;
Granateli's were pretty good friends with Ben.
If everybody remembers from a post herein autopuzzles, they built the drivetrain for Bens < " FORDILAC " > mentioned in many national magazines through the years.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
KW GIBBS
Event where trophy came from;
We believe it was Chicago, even though it could have been in Indy, we have a Speed Sport news week from Chris Econamaki that has the Speedster on the front cover. The year is not known, as I do not have the actual magazine. Just have a picture of the front cover.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Last but not least, Stanley Arnolt;
aka, Wacky Arnolt, >>> arnolt aston martins, mg's, bristols, and more.
He and his wife were very good friends with Ben.
We even have wacky and his wife helping check race cars into a event Ben sanctioned & hosted for the SCCA , in a early color movie that was produced at one of the SCCA races
Roughly 75,000 participated.
Truly believe that Arnolt , Kimberly, Harley earl, Zora, Gordon Buerhig and some other well known individuals, were all stock holders in Road America when built.
Heavily documented that Ben was a honorary race chair and main flagman at the Inaugural event, but alas >> a whole different story on ben being a very important part in building the National SCCA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Francesco, as always a Professional job !!!!!!!!!
With respect to all,
John

Francesco;
Please use this picture for the " NEW " picture for the main story heading
http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/features-stories-and-photos/harris-fwd-speedster-the-story/
Ben in the speedster is cool, BUT the new picture is quite attractive>> especially with the Actress and the other points of historical concern.
Please add the link from this puzzle to the end of the story as you have done with the other links herein.
Thanks again Francesco, and to all that took there time to solve the Puzzle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With Respect,
John

All done, John.
The missing bit was "Chicago Auto Show, 1953": with clearer answers by my side, Hiatawa would have nailed it.
Points awarded. ;)
-
Thank You very much for the points! :)
-
Thank you.. four points, brilliant!
