Yes, friends, abs, vsc, awd and all the other alphabet soup of electronic aids today's cars come with can NOT overcome outright stupidity. The laws of physics STILL prevail and contact with the road IS the critical factor in all driving situations.
In Idaho today, a noted sickologist left his place of business weeping and reportedly has gone into seclusion.

We Germans just invade a country
Reminds me of a snippet of lyric by Tom Lehrer:
Once all the Gernans were warlike and mean,
But that couldn't happen again.
We taught them a lesson in 1918
And they've hardly bothered us since then.... ;D

I read somewhere that the driver was not the owner. The owner spent somewhere in the $800-$900,000 for it with the intention of renting it out for $20,000/day (such a deal!). I think the accident occured with a renter driving it and the owner was furious when he got a call to come get his wreck.

Ah HAH! The entrepreurial spirit is undaunted. Too bad his insurance company is gonna deny coverage when they find out he was renting the car out. Looks to me like about 5 days worth of damage there. :o

The article that was just linked to TP said it was the owner's brother that wrecked the car.

This is from The Sun, in the UK...
DRIVER Ajay Soni looks gutted — after wrecking his older brother’s £830,000 Bugatti Veyron.
Onlookers said “gobsmacked” Ajay, 39, was unable to speak to cops for half an hour after tearing off the French supercar’s front.
Businessman brother Kumar, 41, whose empire includes a car body shop, is said to have “gone ballistic” when he turned up later.
The car spun three times at high speed in lashing rain near Kumar’s home in Shepperton, Surrey, wiping out an Astra and careering into a tree-lined bank.
Ajay faces a six-month wait to see if cops press charges of driving without due care and attention.
Simon Tarrant, who was in the Astra with his seven-months pregnant girlfriend Jenny Matthews, said they escaped unhurt. Simon, of Ashford, MIddlesex, added: “We are just grateful to be alive.”
Locals say the Bugatti — the world’s most expensive car — was seen zooming past the crash site before the accident.
Hours earlier, Ajay boasted to onlookers it was HIS car and even let people sit inside.
It is thought he ‘lost it’ while taking it for a spin on Sunday.

If you can't afford to wreck it, you shouldn't be racing (or even driving) it, IMO.....

Rich turns down offer to drive Bugatti. :o
-
I AM disappointed, Rich. That's only 70 sessions at $300/per. Surely you could afford THAT! ???
-
I recently raised my rates..... :o

Just proves that 1001bhp gets you into tyrouble faster! Did you know incidentally that each Veyron costs VW $9 million and is sold for $1.5 million? It was built just to prove they could do it apparently. Talk is now that the car is a write off. I just want to go get the wreck from the breaker's yard. Join the queue please!
-
I would be happy to assist VW even further in their tax-savings effort. I hereby announce my willingness to accept a Veyron free of charge, thereby allowing VW another 1.5m in write-offs. After all, I am a "helper."
-
A most magnanimous gesture, sir! ;D

Hey, I'm ALL ABOUT making life easier for others......... :lmao:
