Name this and gain a point.
No takers in Rookieland, so up a level.
The Pros will demolish this one in minutes...
Mini Marcos (Too easy to be true, but someone had to write it)
Too easy that it is not true! So, not a Mini Marcos (though obviously Mini-related) :)
Scorpion Haley?
Fortech?
Sorry, but neither Fortech nor Scorpion Haley.
Ridgeway Sports Conversion?
Forgive the slow reply. It is not a Ridgeway Sport Conversion.
Checker Mini?
Sorry, but not a Checker Mini.
Williams & Prichard mini kit car?
Base car is a 1968 Mini.
Spedeworth Mini-Stock?
Sorry for taking so long to respond to this one D-type, but my old PC (which has now finally expired for good, so I have just bought a new laptop) seemed to block me every time I tried to reply. For some reason I had the same problem with a couple of other puzzles, so hopefully I should be able to access these as well now.
Anyway, after all of that, sadly this is not a Spedeworth Mini-Stock conversion, so still open to all.
@Djetset Hi! do you read PMs? ???
My PMs were blocked too so I couldn't access them for many months. I will now though! ;)
Entering the Black Hole very soon...
Is It ,maybe Midas related?
No Midas touch here!
GTM Rossa?
Not a GTM Rossa.
Could It be Deepsanderson 301?
Not a Deep Sanderson 301.
Was it a 'one-off' or marketed commercially?
The front resembles the Biota?
Marketed commerically (but seemingly without much success, judging by the fact that it has been sat here for since 2011) :D
Not a Biota.

- did the year of the registration (1968) reflect the year of the manufacturer or the original date of the car prior to alteration?
The original date of the car prior to alteration.

Okay - was the manufacturer of this conversion active in the 1970s?
Yes.
Is It a newer version of a broadspeed gt?
No Broadspeed link (apart from the Mini base, naturally!).
Just one last question for the moment - did the company offer similar conversions on other makes?
Not to my knowledge.

Okay - time to dig into my magazine library but perhaps they never advertised in sources such as Motor Sport, Autosport, etc.
Probably Triple C, Kit Car, etc. that I don't have access to..... :(
I did find this in a magazine Woodinsight, but I would hate for you to waste hours trying to find this as it is quite obscure. As a clue, this Mini modification first appeared in 1971.
Mini-jem?

Okay thanks Djetset - rather I'll keep my eyes open when I'm searching my library for other reasons and who knows - I may strike lucky!
Does it have any connection with Nottingham?
Sorry, but no Nottingham connection. Another clue; further north!

Leeds?
No, Leeds is too far south (that's not a something you read very often!).
Scottish?
Further south than Scotland.
Newcastle then?

Hot Car magazine?
It looks typical of the type of "custom" car they featured back then. :(
Not from Newcastle, and I don't think it was featured in Hot Car magazine. Remember this is not a one-off 'custom' car though, as it was commercially available.
Hmmmm, so where's north of Leeds but south of Newcastle? Middlesbrough?
Not Middlesbrough; further West.

Maybe Darlington?
Does it actually help knowing where its maker was based?! I think perhaps it doesn't...
No Darlington, and I'm not sure that the location does really help to identify what this car is called! :D
The BH door opens...
Last guess and it's a long shot - HE Plastics?
Sorry, but not HE Plastics.
Lots of obscure Minis have been re-discovered recently thanks to the Maximum Mini books and website : do you confirm there is still no information available online for this car ?

I've just searched for it again on-line, and there is still no mention of this Mini.
