A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

Ryan Snodgrass?

No; I thought he played for Hull City?  Ah, no - that's Robert Snodgrass...!

Wallace A. Wyss ?

At last!
He's the guy.
I was thinking of giving another clue that he's branched out into painting now as well, but he is still writing.  I thought that might make it too easy though...
He was almost a neighbour of Otto's so I thought my little clue earlier might help him identify the writer.

However, that answer only gets us a little further up the road towards solving the puzzle...

I assume (and hope) it is locked for oko94

No, I didn't lock it, as it only gets us a bit nearer solving this although Wallace Wyss would be part of the answer.
Feel free to post your ideas...

Ferrari Hunters, a novel about a barn finding detective

From Mr Wyss
The novel was written and a hundred or so printed to hand out to agents. But it was not optioned or picked up by a publisher (I optioned one of my non fiction books to Fremantlemedia, so I am not without exp. in this area.)
To read a description of the novel go to Google and write in Ferrari Hunters, the novel.

I was thinking of reprinting it as The Porsche Hunters since I write these books called Incredible Barn Finds, and there are more Porsches in each book (50 cars per book) than there are Ferraris so Porsches are easier to find and it still fits the lead character's occupation of being a collector car hunter.

BTW I talked to someone who's handling Incredible Barn Finds on Facebook and he did the graphics:
"I like chopping windshields and more racy grills. Making the British look more Italian"

Good progress!
The answer to the puzzle is the name of the car driven by the main character in the novel..
Now I'll lock it for oko94 and pnegyesi to see if they can come up with that name.

I got it from an Internet site but I don't know whether it's still up; I haven't been able to find it again just by Googling but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

As far as I'm concerned you can unlock it.

Carnut

It isn't now!
