For 1 point, what is this car?

Google Image Search continues to raise its ugly head on AutoPuzzles.
For the sake of our newer members who may not be aware of past discussions on it, Google Image Search as a means of solving puzzles is banned on this website.

AutoPuzzles is primarily a game of automotive knowledge, not of who can copy and paste the quickest.

We ask all members to remember and respect this, and retain the right to ask puzzle-solvers how they came to their answer.

Have fun!

It seems familiar.

Is is another relaunch of a classic british make (which then fell flat as normal)?

No - far from that!
Study it closely and ask yourself if it looks like a real full-size car...

Well that would suggest it is a childs size car

It's nothing to do with children's cars: it's just not a full-size driveable car.

This is not a real car, it's a photoshop of an 1960 Aston Martin DB4 Zagato ...

Carnut

I don't know how you found that but you're right, it is (I wasn't aware of the fact).
So, what is it?  It has a raison d'etre and a name!

I recognised the 'lines' of the car and I knew I've seen that pictures somewhere before ; it's one of the first pictures you find when you type in '1960 Aston Martin DB4 Zagato' into Google.

I'm curious why you think this would be a real car and what the 'answer' to this one will be ...

Very well recognised.
If you study my responses you'll see I've never said it's a real car.  In fact I know it's not a real car and I have already hinted so in my Reply #3.

So what is it then? To me it's just a photoshop of a existing car and I though Autopuzzles was about finding "real" cars ...

AutoPuzzles is a game and posters can post whatever auomotive-related puzzles they like including figments of people's imagination.  A look through old puzzles will reveal many imaginary cars and this is another of them.

If you don't like this puzzle you're not compelled to take part; just ignore it and leave it to those who might want to play the game.

No problem with me, I'm just curious what the answer will be ...

There is at least one company who have built  DHC versions of a Zagato DB4 replica, was this an early mock-up to show what the finished car would look like? (Though it looks far too amateur to be that)

No.  It's not meant to be related to an Aston at all.

Is it some sort of 'hoax' car created by a website or magazine purporting to be something entirely different?

No; it's not a real car but it did have a name and a purpose in life!

It's still there to find...
I do very occasionally come across it on the 'Net when I'm looking for new puzzles to post..

Maybe ... but to me it's still a bad photoshop of a beautifull car. So like I said, I really wanted to know the answer to this one ... Maybe someone else will know?

Carnut

As a matter of fact the answer is not out there for the moment.
It was there for a limited time and it will be again in some months but for the moment it's withdrawn..

D-type

Is it an entry in a [re-]design a car competition?
Duncan Rollo

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

RayTheRat

Adding to D-Type's suggestion, there are several forums where people are asked to photo-chop an image to see what it would look like with different attributes.  In this case, it might be a request to see what a convertible, spider or DHC version of the Zagato Aston DB4GT would look like.  If this is the case, then the "chopper" also changed the image's aspect ratio and added wider tires.  It might even be a somewhat reasonable request, since I don't think a Zagato spider was created...but I could sure be wrong about that.
