Kia?
because it is a Kia, yes.
Locked for you for one try to see if you can identify what its name is and who designed it.
I'm struggling a little with this one. Was it an external project for Kia, created by IAD, for example?
It wasn't done by Kia themselves but they sponsored it.
Was it an RCA student product?
Was it a 1990s RCA student's project?
Any Kia KMX-90 connection?
I don't think so, but I don't know who designed that so I can't say so categorically.
Time to unlock this and move it to the Masters..
Designed between 1985 and 1990 ?
Yes.
1988 ?
Is it a Steve Harper project for Kia?

Is it a Steve Harper project for Kia?
No, not a European or American.
Was the RCA student from South Korea?
Sooshin Choi
?
Has this student eventually designed a production car during his career ?
I can't find one, so probably not.
Jongser Park ?
No.
Can the puzzle car be found online ?
I don't think so.
Is there any way to solve this puzzle apart from finding the book or magazine where the puzzle picture was sourced from ?
I haven't been able to find it online, but it does form part of Kia's series of concept car names, so it's probably out there somewhere; maybe on a Korean site in the Korean language!
There was a KMX-90 in 1984, so maybe a KMX-92 in 1986 ?
Only the first letter is right (because it stands for 'Kia' anyway!)

KEV-1 ?
that was a minivan, that is why I modified to KEV-2 :)
Alright, let's go for KEV-3 (even though I reckon you have found the right answer).
Getting closer...
It's K*V-2*
KCV-20?
Close, but no cigar yet...
KDV-21 ?
All except the 'D' is right; the middle letter stands for a word.
'21' refers to the 21st century.
This was written about it at the time in the 1987 publication I got it from:
"Thinking that the need for multi-functional, multi-purpose vehicles would increase because of the country's growing economy and driver population, the designer has proposed a 3-door sedan with large sliding doors."
KSV-21 ?
Not an 'S'.
I don't want to earn a point, as so much work was done by other people for this puzzle, but may be...
...KAV-21 the solution?
KFV-21 ?
Neither KAV-21 nor KFV-21 is right.
Try to think of the word that might refer to a car for the 21st century from the point of view of 1986.
KIV-21 (I for Innovative) ?
KMV-21,.. 'M' for 'multi'...

KIV-21 (I for Innovative) ?
Yes, exactly!
Just need to know who was responsible for it now...
Unfortunately there's nothing online about this concept so I'm afraid I'll have to give up.
Or can the designer be found online even if his car can't ?
I don't think he can, no; I haven't been able to find anything out about his career at Kia, if he had one.
So I've given you a point and I think we'll call it solved.
I'll leave it where it is for the moment in case someone finds they have the same book I have (and it's quite likely some AutoPuzzlers have since it was a popular series of soft or hard-backed books) but if no-one does then I'll move it to solved eventually.
Thanks !

What is "C21"?
Is RCA the Royal College of Art?
C21 is the 21st Century.
Yes, RCA = the Royal College of Art.
do you know when this competition was in 1986
or do you know the date of the 1987 publication you found the info in?
The competition was the RCA Degree Show of 1986 and the publication was the 'Winter 1987' one, which was published in January 1987.
