Was it made for the German division of UPS (just as UPS commissions and produces some of its its own purpose-built delivery vehicles in the USA)?

It is the only one I know from this company, but it seems the company was closely related to another company, of which a similar vehicle was puzzled here before.

Die Firma Spier Fahrzeugbau entwickelte im Auftrag und in Zusammrnarbeit mit UPS das Zustellfahrzeug P36.
Hergestellt wurde es jedoch nicht nur bei der Firma Spier, auch die Fa. Kaessbohrer, und die Fa. Flensburger Fahrzeugbau fertigten das gleiche Fahrzeug.

Bürstner GmbH, Kehl, is still active as camper van manufacurer. In 1994 they where also listet as producer of parcel-delivery vans.
