Title: 234. of All
Post by: Allemano on May 22, 2009, 09:49:07 AM
I've linked the pic from the Request page and start this from the Experts' section.

I do not know what it is — two points finder's reward!

Hmmm....

Less aero than the first SAAB (on display at the SAAB museum) - the windscreen is too upright, no engine cooling, headlights tacked on vs flush-mounted, doors open the 'wrong' way.

I've heard somewhere that the buildings in the background could be part of the Porsche residence in Stuttgart back then.

How can you confirm if you said that you were guessing? Any proves?

Perhaps it's a predecessor of this one:

Still with split screen, but the layout and size of the car fits. And the VW wheels, too.

There was a VW Beetle-based Austro-Tatra prototype that looked a lot like this, but I'm really struggling to find any photographic proof.  For the moment though, an Austro-Tatra gets my vote and I will try and find some evidence to back this up..

I never did manage to find any proof of my Austro-Tatra suggestion from months back, but just looking at this one again, I wonder if it could be an early Porsche-Studebaker project (again, no proof I'm afraid!) as there is a real hint of early 50s Studebaker about the design.  Just a thought to help bring this one back to life!

It looks so damn familiar and I´m quite sure I´ve come across it some time ago, but I do not have the slightest clue.

But I´m sure it it none of the Porsche 534, 555 or 728 concepts...

Yes, in the German "Oldtimer Markt" magazine, February edition, on page 196, right next to an obituary for Derek Gardner (designer of the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34) and an article about the Batmobile replica by Fiberglass Freaks .

I checked it now. I'm afraid the down-sized picture as shown in the mag is too small for a definite ID.  :-\

It's an Unbekannt Prototyp (and yes I do know what that means!)
So you got no replies from the magazine or anywhere else?
I looks so professional; I'm surprised there's no record of it anywhere.

It has a Tatra look about it and it does resemble the Tatra 108 so might it be another Tatra prototype?
