Make of this vehicle for a point
Moving up to the next level
Trying the (too?) obvious first: Piaggio?
Not Piaggio.
I took this photo in Switzerland last year but the manufacturer is a long way from there.
Bajaj from Pune, India?
Not Bajaj and not from India
I have to add that although the marque is non-European, I'm unsure about this company's manufacturing bases - it may have been constructed in Europe.
Just to add to my last post I understand the company owned several European firms although the marque name of the puzzle was that of the parent company
Professional help required
I suppose, considering the vast amount of these types of vehicles, made for example in India, Italy, but also Thailand, the Philippines and I believe many more, that we first try and find the country?
It looks like a "TukTuk" from the front, but let's say Thailand as my guess for the country?
Not Thailand.
Although this vehicle carries the name of its parent company it could have been built by a subsidiary in Europe.
Good idea to search for the continent/country as this will narrow down the possibilities.
Continent: Asia?
Not Asian - which narrows the field a bit
South America?
Not South America but you are very close
Mexico?
Not quite that close! - not Mexico
An island country?
Not an island country.
A very large country!
USA
Yes!
If you read back through the posts you may come to a conclusion as to the make of the small truck
One of the three big car makers?
I could see Chrysler making something like this through one of its subsidiaries.
Not a car manufacturer
a shot in the dark: Harley?
That's correct - good shot in the dark!
It's a Harley Davidson - what I don't know is whether it was constructed by one of Harley's subsidiaries in Italy.
The unretouched photo -
But you're sure that the Harley Davidson sticker is not simply stucked on by some funny guy?
Allemano - I really don't know.
I took the photo one freezing morning in Rupperswil, Switzerland and perhaps took it at face value at the time.
Perhaps it's nothing to do with Harley Davidson. Hmmm......
I think I'll leave the puzzle open for further discussion in the BH but keep my awarding of a point to Oguerrerob intact.
Moving to the BH but open for further discussion
It seems I can't shift it to the BH - so will have to remain in the solved section
If you like I'll move it to the BH.
Yes please!
My neighbour is a complete Harley-Nut, and according to him this is definitely not something built by Harley.
He did recognise the sticker though. He owned an old pickup once, where he stuck it on his rear window ;)
It still looks like a Piaggio Ape, also known as Vespacar, to me. The only Italian connection Harley-Davidson had was with Aermacchi. But as always, it isn't easy to prove that something hasn't happened. ;)
Thanks Amsterdam and Wendax for your comments.
I think I was fooled on a freezing morning and didn't have the time to check the vehicle in question in more detail.
When I'm back in Switzerland in a couple of months I'll check if it's still there and try to make a proper identification
Who knows? Maybe it's home built and equiped with a HD Evo V-twin engine ;D
I think I must give my point back, unless at the end Harley Davidson was the builder!

Not at all - you obviously made what I thought was a good guess.
Even if it eventually turns out to be something different I appreciate your efforts in trying to solve it!

Sounds like suicide ::)
I'm pretty sure H-D did produce a three-wheeled truck in the 1960s, alothough it looks very different to this. I'll dig around and try and find the picture of it I have but I have a feeling it might've been amongst the magazines I threw out a few years ago... >:(
You don't mean this one, don't you?
No, it was more like the Daihatsu type of cab-foward 3-wheeled trucks like this one
Is the post photo the only one that got?
It's the only one I took at the time unfortunately...

Wendax, this was the line I was following as well.
I believe this is the actual make; Aermacchi.
Having said that, it doesn't look like any Aermacchi I know off...
We also know that certain people like to add logo's to stuff that doesnot belong there. Like an M3 badge on a 3-series BMW.
Looks like this Piaggio Ape 550 MP 1974
Deep in his heart he wanted something else:
Now we know! ;)
barrett, was this one on your mind? According to the well known, but not so trustable owner's website, it is supposed to be a Harley-Davidson Fairway truck.
