grob mystery 2016.01.31 (05) The Ljubliana mystery, Beetle based?

I do not have any information about this vehicle despite this:

I shot this neo classic style car myself in Ljubliana in Autumn 2015 while driving down a main road.

It may be based on a Volkswagen Beetle chassis.

Does anybody know what it might be and has some proof?

The wheels look VW, and the trunk (boot) lid seems to be from the front of a Beetle or Super Beetle.

Location of the exhaust and the lack of any cooling on the rear makes me think front-engine.

I made those photos while sitting in my car in Ljubliana and I am quite sure I heard the typical VW Beetle engine sound.

But you are right, that it is a bit strange that there are no signs of ventilation slits in the rear of this car.
On the other hand you can see a kind of a big box (the engine?) sitting deep under the rear part of this vehicle...
