I'd love to know what it is, but don't think it's a big volume V8 of any kind. The bonnet and overall shape suggests a rather small Italian or maybe French car. (~1000cc)
Hope PJ can find his source again.

I wonder if its an american dream car?

I agree that it is probably not American, because it is RHD.

Two fuel tanks, one on each side... Maybe a re-bodied mono-posto? Could it be a central driving position?

Here you are a bigger pic.
It is just a rendering and the date I have is 1952.
Next stop: black hole!

Could it be a Sixten Sason sketch for the first Saab Sonett? 6 prototypes was "produced" in 1956.

Sason's sketches was quite avant garde, here's a sketch from about 1950:

Ciao SeaLion,

always a pleasure hear back from you!
How is your project proceeding?
About the puzzle car, I really don't know, they share some lines indeed but I do not know the answer myself!

I do not think this is a Sason idea. No proof, but i lacks that special Sason flair and feeling. I´m quite deep into Sasons work and I don´t recognize this, but I would love to be proven wrong.

I've not idea at all, but I'd like to help someone else: I think wheels (if the drawing is faithful) look like those of a light bike, or anyway of a light car. So I suppose Allemano is right when he thinks it's a 1000cc or about.
Then I remember that this kind of drawings, usually show car as they were bigger than real.

PJ, as you don't know much about this sketch, is there any point in asking which country it may originate from?  I ask as I know I have seen this somewhere before, but really can not recall where, but I have a feeling it may be French(?)

I'm staring at it day after day and some details still have my attention. The two petrol tanks (à la Lancia D50), the double-bubble-plexi-glass house and that third front light. (or is the other light hidden by the fender?).
I still go for an Italian car.
