Title: The La Chartre-sur-le-Loir mystery car
Post by: nicanary on July 17, 2014, 07:22:53 AM
The folks on another well-known forum are having trouble identifying this car from an old period photo. The setting is the town square at La Chartre-sur-Lois, and this image is an enlarged section of the photo. Personally I think it's a handbuilt Panhard-based special - does anyone know more?

I thought it might help if you could all see the original photo, which also gives a sense of proportional size. Come on AP members - our reputation is at stake. The other forum seem to think it will only be a short time before they get an answer from us.

Looks a bit like a DB-Panhard with an elongated front and back, though  not quite an identical cabin..

But that's not a Simca, it's a Dyna Junior by Pichon-Parat! (I'm sure you know that)

I tried several times to upload those pics in that reply and once I did it I got the text wrong!
I found some pics in Bellù's book and those Panhards remind me of the mistery car...I took a look at some Simca too but so far no matches.

Not that it helps in any way to solve the mystery, but due to the short distance from Le Mans the Hotel de France in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir housed drivers of interesting cars in the past:
