For a point: could anyone tell me what is the make and model of this car?

I know (or I think I do) only the maker.

Paul Jaray

Mercedes Benz c-111?

Allemano

900 points... Unbelievable!

Mercedes Benz c-111?

The question is which one: C111-I, C111-II, C-111-? ???  This is what I'm looking for...

Allemano

#4
C-111 I chassisnumber #21 from 1969 it is. It was the first pre-prototype and a sheer experimental vehicle without any focus on design

So the next vehicles were C111-I (also 1969?), C111-II (1970), C111-III (1978) and C111-IV (1979) ???

Paul Jaray

I'm preparing a full answer, but my internet connection thinks I shouldn't...

Allemano

no, every stage of evolution (I, II, III) had several prototypes.

Edited my reply #350

Basically there were 4 different models, but as Allemano wrote, each model had further developments:

C111-I 1969            6 different models
C111-II 1969           8 different models
C111-IID 1976        one-off
C111-III 1977-78    2 different models
C111-IV 1979          on-off

But how many of them can be found on the net ??? ;) OK, thank You guys, what I can offer is a single point for PJ and Allemano. I don't know who of You made a better answer ;)

Test cars are not so easy to find, some of them are the same, others are different and some of them may also be tested not on the road at all.. My source (The Mercedes Benz catalogue raisonne) probably reports these numbers according to the chassis numbers. I was trying to find all the different versions that were pictured: some of them are different in some small details (the logo, in the same version, is big in one exemplar and slightly smaller in another, the side window is divided or in one-piece, the tail lights are different etc).
