Keibl, indeed, but not a Nurburg

It was described a Grosser Mercedes, which I assume means a 770(K). I think it is fair to give Joao a point for correctly indentifying Keibl in Austria as the producer of the body. The question open is for whom this was build, for yet another point.... I hope everybody is OK with this.

pnegyesi

Achmed Zogu I, König von Albanien. 1936

bentleybob

Indeed. In fact it was their sixth car for him, as the text says. Disappeared without a trace, I would assume..

Who knows this car?

Manufacturer of the chassis + correct coachbuilding company = 1 point

The car is german, the bodywork was executed in a neighbor country of Germany.

If I have done my homework correctly, this one is..............

Mercedes 770 built for King Zog of Albania in 1935 by the coachbuilder Keibl of Austria.

If I am correct, I have more details.

No please! give the point to Bill... as Allemano says...

"We've forgotten more cars than you'll ever know"

Thanks Wendax!

O.K. - done - one more point for Bill Murray, too.

But you still deserve your point, too.

Many thanks to Burkhard and João.

Given the extra effort I put into the quiz, I will humbly accept the point.

It seems our friend Zog was quite the rake and poser.

As mentioned in the earlier quiz, he apparently commissioned six bodies, all on Mercedes chassis I understand, by the coachbuilder Keibl.  As also mentioned, apparently none survived.  It is also said that Ettore Bugatti refused to sell him a Bugatti Royale because he "had the worst table manners in the world.

With the takeover of Albania by Mussolini, he went into exile in France.  When France fell, he moved to England.
After the war was over he was invited to live in Egypt by King Farouk  When Farouk was overthrown, he returned to France where he lived until he died.  He also purchased a 60 plus room home in the US but apparently never used it.

Below, I will post a couple of other Keibl creations/concepts as well as a couple of photos of Zog "In Costume".
