So what's happened to this web page? In previous years there would have been all kinds of controversy over stewards decisions!
My take on the Hammy penalty. It was not overly severe because, if you watched the overhead, it appeared (to me at least) that the safety car increased it's speed for a short sprint and then backed off. Which put it up on Hammy. Hammy was left with a decision, go for it or brake. He chose to go for it.
Alonso was in a different postion and a bit further back. Hence his decision.
Hammy was in free air with only Vettel in front. If he ended up behind slower traffic he would have been in trouble.

New comment. Any comments about the flex wing rule. My understandiong, as explained by Matchett and company is that the lead car will not be permitted to use the flexible wing, but the followin car will. Hence allowing more passing.

Why not let the buggers go for it. The Canadian grand prix was a great example of that.

Other rule. the 107 percent rule. If they want more newer teams to apply they had better rethink that sucker.

The powers that be keep insisting that the purpose is to save money, or make the present money go further.  Yet they insist on bringing in new rules which increase cost by very large amounts.

If there is a way to somehow implicate Schumacher in the stewards' shenanigans, the comments will come.

The 107% rule is no problem for most teams. For example, Lotus is at about 103%.

107% is a non starter.  They will all easily surpass that threshold.

You nailed the Hamilton - Safety car imbroglio.  I have nothing else to add to that.

The flexi wing rule is stupid.  Why?  Because the guys driving the cars say so.

Agreed.  :(

Like a lot of rules about practice times and grid positions this one had its origins in safety considerations. When, nearly a century ago, someone had the bright idea that it made sense to start all the competitors at once it was decided that the faster the competitor was the nearer the front of the new-fangled grid he should be so that when the flag fell the group of cars would expand. That idea was rated a success for most of the years since, and in Grand Prix racing the grid was based on the best time put up in a number of nominated practice sessions and eventually concern about slow cars taking part resulted in a maximum lap time limit being set.
Now that the grid positions have no direct relationship to the best practice time put up by each car, and that placing a competitor many places back from his correct position is even a way of applying a penalty, the safety issue has, it seems no relevance.
