Can you identify this? Country, name of the builder and a year will be needed again for a point. And again, sorry about the quality of the picture

pnegyesi

Experts, have you seen this one before?

mymokke

Looks like some kind of modernization of the Cord 812.
Is it a Graham version of the Cord after the dies were sold by ACD crp.?

pnegyesi

Yes, this car was built in the United States of America ;)

But got nothing to do with Graham or Cord

cmetisse

Early attempt of the Muntz Jet ?

pnegyesi

No, nothing to do with Muntz.

pnegyesi

No, not a Kurtis.

BTW it's time to move this!

Allemano

Custom built special or small series production car?

Arunas

pnegyesi

custom built special

last bump before it goes to the Black Hole

Bugace

Based on '40s car?

Otto Puzzell

That wood paneling looks familiar. Same owner or builder as a recently-solved puzzle?

Otto Puzzell

That's supposed to be the same car as the picture at the top of the thread? Or is that the donor?

pnegyesi

It is the puzzle car from another angle.

???
Almost nothing seems to fit...
I had noticed that paneling too, Otto  ;)

The guy who built this "first built a body using plywood then covered it with fiberglass, similar to boat procedure"

Otto Puzzell

Slab sides vs. curved  ???

Headlights atop fenders, rather than on the front.  ???

Tall windscreen versus short, sporty windscreen.  ???

If that's the same car, it's been completely re-bodied (and seemingly shrunk, too)

 :bag:

I have deleted the other picture and the references. You were so right, it is not the same car

To make matters worse, it is a customized version of the Cord 812 indeed - just as mymokke indicated. I am so sorry. Mymokke receives a point, I'll move this to the solved section and I am deeply ashamed.

Here's what Motor Life said in 1956:
"Although this is a customized version of the original, the Cord is considered to be the forerunner of today's boulevard-type sports cars in America. it was low and sleek, had features that made it most talked-about car of its days"

(Please move this to the right section :( )

Any more details? (name of the builder as you asked)

Then we'll be able to move it.

The bag is not too light a punishment

Maybe all the infos he got referred to the car he erroneously had in mind... And as far as I can see it's been already moved to the solveds..

My mistake. I move it back where it belongs

Yes, I have published the other car as a puzzle now. About this, I only know that it is a customized Cord.

mymokke

Thank you for the point .... I just couldn't get my mind's eye to let go of the Cord connection, the windshield, rear fender spats and the whole body line from the cowl back screamed Cord.
