That reminds me of a 1957 special based on the contemporary Renault Dauphine, bodied by Allemano and, uhm, inspired by a sports coupé request from Jean Rédelé who represented Renault in Dieppe.

The specimen in your picture is still slightly different from the photo floating around the web, isn't it? The blue (I would assume) side panel goes all the way to the rear rather than stop at the side vent.

Yes, it seems to be a different car as some minor details are different as well. (trim between the front lights)

It looks so like the Floride.  Was the Floride based on this car?

The Floride was based on the Dauphine as well, but that's the only link. Btw, Jean Rédelé was not only the Renault agent in Dieppe, but also (later) father of the new make Alpine.

There has been some discussion as to whether Frua had seen this car and the first A108 when he designed the Floride... Although there is also similarities with a number of other cars, but I think the Floride styling can be traced back to the 1956 Dauphine GT coupe and even more so the 1956/57 Dauphine GT cabriolet that he did whilst working at Ghia-Aigle
