Years after this picture was taken, this man owned a quite particular automobile.
Who is he, and what was this car?

Only a complete answer will be worth a point.

That's Belgian writer Georges Joseph Christian Simenon, who at one time, owned the Ghia Assimetrica.

Goddamighty! :taz:

In a row, Otto just solved two puzzles which I believed would keep you PAFW searching for a good while! (still trying to refill this board, you see. Fortunately, Van Heflin still keeps them puzzled).
What did I do wrong?

This color photograph is supposed to be Simenon's car, but I can't guarantee that.

What did I do wrong?

Noone knows exactly what happened to Otto in the past weeks.
Maybe he received visitors from unknown origin or there's an increase of radiation in his neighbourhood...

I was about to make a guess about that myself, and hadn't dared such wild guesses, but you may be right. Both are quite possible.

Note: this puzzle was solved using Google's "Search by Image" feature:

I believe I have scored 30-40 points using this tool. I know other AutoPuzzles members have been using this search tool, as well. As solving puzzles in this manner is not in the spirit of AutoPuzzles, I have deleted 100 points from my total, and have banned myself from answering any other puzzles for a period of one month.

I will let the other AutoPuzzles members how have used this tool wrestles with their own consciences.

Interesting, I had no idea such a thing existed! This will be useful for finding pictures that I've saved without taking down any information about them... (I'm sure we've all done this from time to time!)

I'm not sure if solving these 'art and cars' puzzles that way is really that bad, I'd guess you still have to do a fair amount of digging to link the person with the vehicle? Everyone knows that Bela Lugosi is the subject of my A&C puzzle, but no one has been able to link him to a car yet....
Solving straight 'name the car' puzzles this way is slightly unfair I guess... but not these ones. Just my two cents.

What is this sudden access of guilt, Otto?
Apparently, it doesn't work for me with Safari on my Mac. But believe me, if it had, I probably would have done just the same! 8) I just don't know for how long.

Now, have you been too harsh on yourself, and are there some other members who used the trick and didn't come out of the woods yet?
Maybe you did the right thing. It's easier to live with a hundred points less that with an everlasting burden on you mind, as some will possibly find out.
