Based on a (sort of) Trabant, but not built by a "Karnevalsverein". However, as I mentioned before you're not too far away...

Let's sum it up a bit:
it was built in the 1970s, it's based on a sort of Trabant and comes from East Germany. And it's not built by a "Karnevalsverein", but shown at one of these events.

No. It was independently built from the Trabant factory in Zwickau. So it's not a Trabant prototype.
The engine was of different technology.
