Last one for today.
Another coachbuilt drophead coupe.
Make, model, year and coachbuilder for one point.

Allan L

Another one I remember from a long time ago!
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Lea Francis 14hp, 1948.  Tickford?

woodinsight

Lea-Francis 14hp is correct although I have it as 1947.
Not by Tickford though.....

Just a guess - Avon.
Not Avon but you're at the right end of the alphabet

woodinsight

Perhaps a Pro knows the coachbuilder?

Allan L

Sadly, although I have seen the car (it came to a Lea-Francis OC rally in 1986) I don't think we knew the builder at the time.
What isn't obvious is that the darker bits of the body are natural finish wood!

Unfortunately my photo isn't good enough to see that.
Perhaps someone has a better view?

Allan L

I took a photo which was quite good but I would be hard pressed to find it. I reproduced it in the LFOC magazine, but it lost too much in the process to be worth scanning from that.

Okay, thanks Allan.
Maybe a better one will turn up in time.

If that is the coachbuilder pass the point to Max, he did all the hard work.

Not that one - more obscure....

woodinsight

Just to confirm the coachbuilder begins with the letter 'A'

woodinsight

Not Abbey - the correct number of letters but more obscure....

woodinsight

Not Adams
An additional letter - A--E-

Wendax

Angel it is!
Built by Angel Motor Bodies Ltd. of Manchester who also built several 'woody' estate car bodies on Alvis TA14 chassis in the 1940s.
Your point.

Allan L

I have found the photo of this car and here it is in colour!
