Since my last puzzle didn't even last an hour, maybe this one will be a bit more difficult.   Maybe not...

It looks as if it's an early prototype for the Ford Cardinal project, which ended with the german production car Ford Taunus 12-M.

Is it a Pietro Frua design?

No Frua involvement, although there are similarities...

This car came from a major auto company that usually doesn't  rely on coachbuilders for one-offs...the chassis and body came from opposite sides of the world.

This car strongly resembles the Toyopet Sport X concept from 1961 but has a number of detail differences from the Sport X including a completely changed front styling. I can't find any evidence this car was ever exhibited so it may be an earlier Toyopet/Toyota prototype of the Sport X dating from around 1960-1961.

Details on this car are rather sketchy...I found it while googling the Abarth Pininfarina car in a previous puzzle.  It was listed as a "Toyota Pininfarina Prototype 1961", so I'm giving the puzzle point to JR.  I saw the similarity to a Frua design, but evidently Pietro Frua didn't have anything to do with this car.  It's a handsome vehicle, and it would have been a strong seller, IMO.

Well done.

Here's the concept, a 300 SL clone, it appears...

JR

Karnutz, you've got the wrong concept. The Toyopet Sport "X" is a completely different, later vehicle.
