Slightly more difficult perhaps.....
Identify this car - builder/make, engine, year and what event is it competing in?
One point for the complete and correct answer.

No response so perhaps a Pro knows?

Looks like very early 50s design. What is unusual is that it is a single-seater with headlights :o

faksta

Or is it a Riley of some Monsieur Brunot pictured in 1946?

faksta

Another (and last so far) version would be Raymond de Saugé Destrez on a Fiat

woodinsight

None of the above Faksta......
The event the car was competing in would have required headlights and the year 1946 is a few years too early.
Although the car itself is French, the engine is not French, British or Italian.....

faksta

One more Bol D'or rarity?

neilshouse

Is the engine air cooled?

Chauzy's Volkswagen (K.D.F. Chauzy)?

Chauzy's Volkswagen (K.D.F. Chauzy)?
Not that one.
As a further clue, the engine is German but not Volkswagen....

DKW?
Yes, the engine's a DKW.
I still need the year and the name of the man who built/drove it for the point.

Last clue - the name of the constructor/driver is very appropriate for a French car!

Okay, okay - maybe my last clue was not the best way of solving this puzzle  :D
Anyway, let's see if there are any more bright suggestions.......
