Looks as if it should be an MG based job, possibly one of Harry Lester's although by the time it looks to have been built he was doing cars with all-enveloping bodywork.

Yes, it is MG-based but not one of Harry Lester's cars.....

I think this is Australian driver Jim Johnson's MG TC special with a self-built glassfibre body dating from c.1955. This is the same car that Johnson lost his life in in 1957 and the only car he owned in his 5 year career as a driver.
