I have that yellow one on my HD for months but couldn't find any definite info so far. Some source mentions the name "Dauphine Proto", but that doesn't make sense to me...

Judging by the license plate and the rear camber it could well be a Renault Dauphine-based one-off ("proto" doesn't mean that it has to be a factory prototype). It is from the Département Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

My doubts refer to that rather mid seventies/eighties fake-Countach design. Why should someone equip it with such an old and dull engine*?

* I know.. esp. on that place are many examples of such oddities..

Wendax

There were Beetle-based Countach replicas, an even older design. Dauphines were cheap raw material, could easily and efficiently be tuned, and already had the rear engine layout.

Sorry, Dzima, for not answering your question, You have to wait for a little while more.  ;D

For one point, please respond and identify this car by telling the base car and its builder.

DeAutogids

I assume the base car is a VW beetle. It reminds me of the Condor kitcar.

Yes  ;D (http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=5331.msg251067#msg251067)
But I found some more information meanwhile.

ValkyrieGT

Condor Stinger, from Ohio. Component car with a custom tube chassis & big block V-8 power plants that utilize the General Motors TH425 transaxle.

Wendax

No, the puzzle car is French and Renault-based.

I found the builder (monsieur Spock, but I don't know his name) and some images:
I am right?

Wendax

The builder's name isn't Spock, but you certainly found the right source. Have a closer look and you will find the builder.

Yes! Daniel Brunel built this polyeaster-bodied Berlinette based on a Renault Alpine chassis. It originally had a 1300G engine, then a Renault 5 Alpine engine. The current engine is not known.

One point for solving your own puzzle.  :D
