I hope it is not a repost. At least I couldn't find it.

For one point, please respond and identify the car and the year.

I guess, you didn't want to type all the information yourself.  :D

Yes, that's the car. Another point for you.

I'd like to know: What this car is usually called, who was responsible for it and the name of the designer of its body...all this for a point.

D-type

Is it a Tatra of some kind?

The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know.

The front bumper is from a 1935/36 Ford.
Is it from USA, Ford V8 based?

targhediferro

Not Ford v8 based.

Yes it is, even if one of the two men you're requested to identify is European.

I may have most of it.

It is a Chrysler Project Car, normally called "The Dream Car" or perhaps one of "The Dream Cars".
Built in 1936 and it had an unusual 5 cyl motor and FWD.  This was "Car #2".

I believe Lee Breer is the one responsible for the project and that Ted Piesch designed the body

Very well indeed, Bill....  as you know I'm quite boring these days, so you won't be surprised I'd like to know something more.  I have another nickname, derived from the kind of engine that this car sported, can you tell me it, please?  LOCKED for Bill.

Bill Murray

Stupid me!!!!!!

Of course the proper nickname is "Star Car".

You're only partially right; the car is actually nicknamed Star car, bit you're bit stupid at all! Anyway I'm glad to give you this point.

Bill Murray

The stupid part is that many months ago when we had a small number of prototype car questions, I created a bookmark section on the subject, including GM, Ford, Chrysler etc. etc.  The bookmark title is "Dream Cars" and I just automatically typed that word in.

Thank you for the point, 120 now and starting to find things I actually know something about this week.  It has been a long dry period.

Ouch!!

Please accept that this came before I joined the Forum and I found it all by myself and I was not aware it was an earlier puzzle.

Funny how the radial engine never caught on for passenger cars. I SAID, FUNNY HOW IT NEVER CAUGHT ON!!! I SAID FUNNY... oh never mind. And why is the car shaking like that ?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia
