According to a big German book about BMW, it's a 1943 BMW 335 Coupé made for the mayor of Munich.
On the web I've seen it described as a 1935 BMW 335 Coupé by Autenrieth, which doesn't make sense as the 335 was built from 1939. Another website says it's a 1945 BMW 335 Coupé by Wendler (according to the text) or by Autenrieth (according to the photo's name).

Well I have it as a 1945 BMW 335 Coupé by Autenrieth, which is, I think, fairly believable so that's what we'll stick to.
If we're wrong no doubt Wendax will put us right!

It is a BMW 335 Coupé by Autenrieth. It wasn't built for the mayor, but for the Polizeipräsident (chief constable) of Munich. According to Zaiss' book, Autenrieth built three 335 coupes, one of them for race driver Ernst Henne.

Thanks for the clarification. Is 1945 right? I was a bit surprised they got up and running again so soon..
