This is killing me. I've seen this car before and I can't remember where. The wheels look a bit Triumph-esque, so Triumph chassis?

No Triumph bits!

Are you quite sure, Carnut? Those seem to be Triumph TR2 steel wheels and Standard Motor Company hubcaps..... ???

Carnut

I agree and it's probable they are.
What I really meant was that is it doesn't have a Triumph chassis, engine or any other mechanical bits, though I'll concede it might have Triumph wheels.

This is not hard so is going to be a very easy Pro point for someone..
Surprised it's got so far.

There are Experts who I thought would have got that one. Early Electrons had Microplas Mistral bodies - I reckon that could be the most "used" of all GRP shells.

Yet again I miss out on the easy ones  ;D
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Carnut

Ah, I see you've edited your original post Wendax.
I was going to say it wasn't an Electron Minor and ask you to look again.
But you're right this time, it's an Electron and in fact is the original Electron with Coventry Climax engine.
The various treatments of the nose are very confusing as are the various names on the Electron theme.
This seems to be the only one with the headlights behind covers however and it seems to be the prototype car using an un-modififed Microplas Mistral shell; all production cars had exposed headlights (as far as I can find anyway!) and modified bodies.

So it's another point for Wendax.

Yes, I edited several times, starting with Mistral, then finding the car incorrectly identified as an Electron Minor and finally being sure that it is not the Minor, but the initial Electron.

Now it is your turn to modify the heading (Fairthorpe instead of Fairthrope).  ;)

Done; I got that one comprehensively wrong (Faithrope is actually what I'd written..!)

Useless Fact of the Day.  Fairthorpe built 30 Electrons with this Mistral body.
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.

Only useless to the man in the street; fascinating to us anoraks on AP!  Thanks.
