Might be based on a Barnard Formula Six, but I can't find anything about it.

Let's call it solved. It is based on a Barnard Formula 6 which mainly was a monoposto body on a go-kart chassis. Alternatively you could have this sports car body. It even made it on the title page of a magazine with Clive Chapman at the wheel:
