I've found the source, which is a forum thread about motoring in Split, posted in 2011-2013. You were probably expecting "Leyland bus with body by Auto Karoserija Split" as the answer but I reckon this description is referring to the previous image in that thread, showing a bus in construction. The puzzle image is apparently only described as a bus operated by Promet, 1953 ("Prometov autobus na stajalištu u zagori 1953. godine"). I've posted both images here.

You certainly are right, which earns you a point, as you gave not the correct, but the expected answer. What to do now? Should I leave this puzzle open for a Black Hole future?

Thanks for my 885th point. The puzzle should stay open as the bus hasn't been identified yet.

The front wheel hubs seem to indicate it's four wheel drive. Maybe a rebodied WWII vehicle?

Wendax

I think it's possible.

Moved to the appropriate section and still worth 2 points.
