Perhaps a Crosley engine?

Zerk

This is the TXP H-Modified sports racer, built by Bruce Townsend. It used a Crosley engine mated to a 5 speed Lancia transmission and drove through a modified Studebaker rear axle.
The front suspension is Morris Minor. Construction is tubular space frame with alloy panels, and the body is  fiberglass, resembling a smaller D Jaguar of the period.
