What is this type of rim called? What are the advantages over conventional rims? What do I have to pay attention to during assembly?
There is a point for these few questions.

Trilex rims, allows the tire to be changed without removing the whole wheel. The tightening order must be observed, but these rims are less dangerous than rims with a circle.

Yes!! Just the right puzzle for a commercial vehicle specialist. Thank you for the brochure.
The easy way to change tube or tire was the reason for the invention. But in addition they still provided good cooling of the brake drums through openings between the spokes. And they look damn good, that's why they were still very popular in Switzerland for a long time.
But please take extreme care when dismounting! The clamps that hold the rim parts together ("A" in the picture below) can sit very tight. When loosened with a hammer after removing the nuts ("B"), they jump through the area with a lot of energy (that is why they are called "frogs"). Those fellows who do so, should have finished their family planning!! Therefore loosen nuts only, loosen frogs with a hammer and then remove the nuts complete.
So, that was today's lesson "Commercial vehicle technology for beginners", thank you for your attention.  ;)

Switzerland is not far from where I live and my friend "Tôgne" owns 4 trucks with trilex rims, one of which is still at work.
