What is this racing car?  For what Formula?  When?

I'll be away from my computer for a few days, so please be patient if you make a guess about this little gem

Sorry, I was abroad for a couple of days. It is a 1953 Giaur 750 Sport raced in the Italian formula 3 championship.

D-type

This is a Giaur 750 but on this occasion it was not competing in a Formula 3 race.
Duncan Rollo

1954 Mille Miglia 750 cc class ?

D-type

Nope, it wasn't running as a sports car on this occasion.

In an Italian race ?

There are a few.....So not the Mille Miglia, how about the Targa Florio ?

D-type

As I said previously, it wasn't in a sports car race.

In a formula (1) race ? Like e.g. the Copa Acerbo ?

D-type

Yes, a non-Championship Formula 1 race

Then it could / should be the 1954 Rome Grand Prix with driver Berardo Taraschi

Congratulations!  You've got there in the end.
In 1954 Giaur supercharged one of their sports / Italian Formula 3 cars with a 750 Giannini engine and ran it in the Gran Premio de Roma at Castelfusan driven by Berardo taraschi.  The experiment was unsuccessful and the car was hopelessly slow and retired after 5 laps.
