Lombard?

Don't stop now.......

How d'you mean?
The French Lombard car took its name from Andre Lombard, who drove and was important in the history of Salmsons (and whose St Andrew's cross on the radiator derives from him (Andre is the French equivalent of Andrew)).
They raced in the 1100cc class at Le Mans in 1928 (Deavaux/Goutte) (13th) and 1931 (Charlé/Royer) (DNF) and I'd guess this is the later type.
They also made a straight-8 twin-cam 3-litre.

This car has a pedigree too.  As well as some blatant hints.  With this tremendous collection of arcane automotive knowledge here at AutoPuzzles, no one can get closer than MG?

:faint:

I believe there to be an insult in there somewhere, Abingdon....

The following is not a guess, as AllanL already got the right answer. It is merely a confirmation.

It is a 1928 Lombard AL3 and it is not for sale!

Measures with mics, marks with chalk, cuts with axe, beats to fit and paints to match

Otto Puzzell

That thing is STILL for sale?  ;D

Oh, yeah. Apparently my reputation for sucking at these puzzles preceeds me!  :hah:

Well, I have only one defense and so I must perforce make use of it, to wit:     :buttkiss:
