By the way, the car passed through the hands of multiple subsequent owners and was raced in different configurations and probably under various names. Since I don't have many of these later details, I can't rule out the possibility that one of your guesses could be a later iteration of the same car. But I'm looking for the car's creator, original name, and original mechanical composition.

This puzzle has been stalled for over a month now, so maybe it needs a little nudge in the right direction:

I think the key to solving this one is to focus on identifying the builder first (previously featured on AP and known for a different car ;)).
