This is for Experts and Rookies alike.  Any ideas what this car is?

French yes, but Arzens no.

ImpishGrin

It's the Gonnet Hybrid, a 1947 french petrol-electric hybrid car.
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Pray tell; why the instruments behind the seats?

Djetset

Tres bien ImpishGrin, it is indeed Monsieur Auguste Gonnet's hybrid, which was actually complete in 1952, but you have the point.

The reason the car unusually has two instrument panels is that one houses the gauges for the for the pertol engine, and the other the dials for the electric power.  very odd indeed!

I don't know what it is.
Please respond below if you know this car.

Maybe...

I've shelved it on my HD for quite a while, forgot to file it properly and can't remember where I found it.
Zero memories!  :-\

Otto Puzzell

Oh - I see your previous statement now.

I think I've seen this one somewhere - I'll have to dig though the archives (probably tomorrow).

I hope it's still here!

Reminds me of that french car shown at Essen...

...in the meantime I'm looking for it  ;).

Auguste Gonnet Hybrid 1952
(It was Retromobile...)

Paul Jaray

Auguste Gonnet built this one-off gasoline-electric hybrid in 1947. A Zundapp motorcycle engine powers a generator that supplies an electric motor for propulsion

Aha, I remember the car with that reverse dash!

Then I have to merge it with that I'm afraid:

Nevertheless a point for Paul!

And there's our old friend the Racaboy-Kirchner that crops up regularly on AutoPuzzles in the background!
