No, it is not a Taunus. Taunus was located in Frankfurt-am-Main.

I seem to recall there were more than one manufacturer located in Frankfurt, which is not in Thuringia

I'm not giving up yet. Trying too learn some german geografie as well, and then I wonder if it could be a FEG('04-'07)?

Good guess, because it seems to fit almost all criteria, but it is not a FEG. Gera is not a spa city though

And one more interesting tidbit: Jozsef Bory, a Hungarian engineeer studied at FEG in 1904-1905. Then he returned to Hungary and set up his workshop where he built a few cars and motorcycles.
