Can you crack this one for Christmas?  I think this is quite a tough puzzle, so should help to keep you occupied over the coming Festive holidays.  So, make and model name please for a point.  Once solved, I shall add some more photos of this unusual vehicle.

Have fun, and a very Merry Christmas to you all   :joker:

You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Djetset

Time to spread the Christmas cheer around, so have the Experts got any ideas?

Tom_I

The sliding front door and upturned door handle keep reminding me of a Bedford CA van.

Anything to do with Vauxhall/Bedford in the UK?

Djetset

Very much something to do with Vauxhall/Bedford, so any idea what this model was planned to be called?  Locked to you.

I've drawn a blank on this one so far, I'm afraid. :-\

So please open it up for someone else to have a shot. :)

Djetset

OK, thanks Tom.  I have awarded you a point anyway for guessing that this is a Bedford, but what could the planned model name have been?  Now open to all.

Djetset

Up to the Pros for the model name.

Djetset

No, not specifically a taxi prototype, but planned as a van and/or a 'people carrier'.

Bedford CA Dormobile Caravan 1961

Djetset

It is a Bedford, but not a CA.

Austin

1971 Bedford Autproject 3 based on CF?

Djetset

No, this one is earlier than 1971.

Djetset

Do you know it's proposed model name?  Locked to Oguerrerob until next reply.

Oguerrerob

Not quite sure. All that I've found out is that they called it Dormobile. Then they drop Bedford name for Astravan. If not let it open to everyone!!

Sorry, but not quite the answer I was looking for.  Dormobile was a UK-based company that converted many Bedford vans into campers (and mini buses).  The Astravan was the last model to wear a Bedford badge before being re-branded Vauxhall, in line with GM UK's the passenger car model range.

Now open to all-comers again.

Dormobile was a Martin Walter product, and they and Kennex were, from memory, the main CA converters.  Was this from either of them, or was it a GM in-house development?

Djetset

This was a 100% in-house GM design.

wingroad

Is it based on the Viva HC or is it FWD ?
Front looks CF like but appears to be too short to be RWD.
Vivacity if Viva based.

Djetset

It is not Viva HC-based, but I believe that it is RWD as GM in Europe took far too many years to drag itself into the FWD era.

Carnut

I thought we'd already established this was based on a Bedford CA (Tom I's reply #3)?
