I think Allan means that Hotchkiss, FN and Maxim were gun makers.
The car, anyway, is a 1929 DuPont Model G Speedster. I would never have found that if I hadn't noticed that the car behind it also had a DuPont hood ornament, a cristal eagle by Lalique (like the one you posted in "Devil is in the details"

So that's what that is supposed to be! :doh:

The site from which I sourced this picture identifies the car as something quite different than a DuPont.

Strange... Mine shows the same two cars, but under the rain, and you can see by the grille that this a duPont.
Wait a minute until I find it and post the link.

I couldn't find it anymore, but here are the same exact two cars at the Meadowbrook Concours d'Elegance. You can read on the board in front of the red car that it's a 1929 duPont.
