MOCK - an acronym for Maddeningly Obtuse Connection (puzzle) by the Puzzler Previously known as Karn Utz.

What is the maddeningly tenuous connection between the two vehicles pictured here?

I know I do a passable imitation of maddening.  Anyway, what the "L".  Only connect.

The Chevrolet Corvette is a C2.  The Morris-Commercial is an LC3.  There were LCs, LC3s and LC4s, but no LC2.  This Corvette, given time travel and a lot else, might have been a Morris-Commercial.

Tenuous enough?

Tuckeroo

Travel through parallel universes much?

max

No.  Traffic lights are a big problem.

The picture of the Morris Commercial is from the film "Babe", but I can't see what the connection with the Corvette is.  James Cromwell doesn't own one by any chance?

Otto Puzzell

You are about 1/2 way to solving this one - nice work!

To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Cromwell doesn't own a Corvette. He may, but if he does, it has nothing to do with this puzzle.

Your Cromwell hunch was a good one.  ^-^

Anything to do with the comment by Peter Segal, the director of Adam Sandler's "The Longest Yard", in which Cromwell plays the part of the Warden?  When asked about how you should approach the task of remaking a classic film, Segal said "It’s like finding a ’66 Corvette in a barn, it’s an American classic. You have to be careful in restoring it: you don’t touch the body, but you start by adding some new wheels, redo the interior, and take it out for a spin. People can still enjoy what they loved about the first film."

Otto Puzzell

That's a good one, but not the connection I'm after.

This should be much easier to solve than the "Link Obscura" puzzle, methinks...
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Ray B.

Does it mean you solved the Link Obscura? They both leave me speechless.

Otto Puzzell

I did not.

But The both halves of the link suggested by this puzzle are pictured here, and a clue exists prominently, elsewhere on this site.  8)

Both are 2-seater, 2-door 4-wheeled RWD front-engined vehicles?

Otto Puzzell

OK, but that's not what I'm looking for.

Also not the correct answer are:

Both held to the ground by gravity
Both illuminated by sunlight
Both names can be anagrammed into dirty words
Both have tires that were cured using the process of vulcanization
The seat cushions of both contain trace elements of a driver's flatulence

That should narrow it down a bit...

The crux of this puzzle has already been revealed, and there is, as I mentioned previously, a glaring clue located elsewhere within this site.

Here is something else you're not looking for:

The first image is a picture from "Babe".
The second image shows a Corvette.
John Cromwell plays in "Babe".
Oliver Cromwell's nickname was "Old Ironsides"
Wouldn't "Old Ironsides" also be the nickname of a famous corvette frigate?

Missed.

A commendably well-reasoned reply, but not the correct answer.

For your effort, a clue: Both are connected by flickering moving images on a screen.

Another one:

The first image is a picture from the movie "Babe" (flickering moving images on a screen).
The second image shows a Corvette (a 1963 Stingray in my opinion).
The Corvette has the main role in the Series "Route 66" (flickering moving images on a screen).
John Cromwell plays in "Babe".
Jonn Cromwell also played the part of William Randolph Hearst in another movie (flickering moving images on a screen).
The Corvette has a Hurst shifter.

Now how's that for flickering moving images on a screen?
