BTW, the impressive factory buildings were former Hussar barracks.

I wonder if the factory was a part of this group of buildings, "The New Kaserne".

No, your picture shows the "Neue Kaserne" (new barracks), the Mikromobil factory resided in the "Alte Kaserne" (old barracks).

OK, again just for fun, here is a different view of the "Alte Kaserne" where you can see the identifying characteristics of the building are pretty much the same.  Not your view, but I would say the same Kaserne.

Those are the barracks at Von Lengerkestraße (now Lengerckestraße), built in 1854. The Mikromobil factory was in the barracks building from 1867, located adjacent at Johannisstraße (today Nebendahlstraße). The Neue Kaserne mentioned above was built in 1887 in the south of Wandsbek.

Thanks for the point Gerd, and thanks for the complement Bill.  After almost 30 hours of work, I was almost ready to toss in the towel, that is until Reply #92.  At that point it was just a matter of who could pick the correct manufacturer from a rather short list, as the major city had to be Hamburg (I never did find a Mikromobil reference mentioning Wandsbek).  One of my biggest hangups was thinking the car was somewhat larger, hence my initial choice of Sauer.

Superb puzzle, Gerd! Nice work, 4popoid! Well done to both of you!!  :applause:

No shortage of money for building barracks in those days, then?
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

Not at all. ;D
Most of them were destroyed in WW2, just some parts of the Neue Kaserne remained and were used as police buildings. Recently they were converted to apartment buldings:
