There is a standing old joke in the uk.

If caught by the police they would say to you "let's be having you".

Hence the road name which although spelt differently is pronounced the same. The road name in full is Letsby Avenue. Drop the H and it makes sense

As a postscript, yesterday I was watching one of my favorite TV shows, "The Artful Detective". It features the cases of a member of the Toronto Constabulary and takes place around the turn of the century. The Constabulary is predominantly made up of folks originally from Great Britain and there is a lot of British vernacular . . . so imagine my delight when the Chief Constable (a Scot) exclaims while apprehending a suspect- what else? - "Let's be havin' you, then."  Made my day.
