Someone else buy this!

This is the thread where you post those tempting finds from autotrader, ebay, craigslist, racingjunk.com, prewarcar.com, a local paper, or what have you. The goal is to bully your fellow AP'rs into needless purchases. Million dollar supercars, restored classics, weekend-sucking project cars, automobilia, and random parts & unnecessary garage tools all welcome. A quick picture, a link, and two or three sentences justifying why SOMEONE ELSE should buy it are all that's needed.

When you post your temptation, include a lame-ass excuse as to why you're not buying the item in the post above yours.

To start:

A 426 Wedge-powered Dodge Dart.

http://racingjunk.com/post/758876/1968-Dodge-Dart-GTS-H-Code-426-Wedge.html

The engine is orange. It'll lay black strips until the cows come home. And you won't see yourself on every street corner. You can't afford not to buy this.

If I hadn't just bought some stuff I'd be all over this. Five vehicles would be pushing my luck though. This is a manly man's SUV - they have a good reputation for being tough, long lasting unlike the fwd Lada cars like the Samara.

1995 Lada Niva

Stephen M

That's the nicest Lada Niva I've seen. I'd buy it, but:

1) Won't be street legal down here in the states

2) I'd have flashbacks to taking my father's honda CVCC off-road :)

So...instead, someone needs to buy this:

Porsche 356 project car

http://tinyurl.com/y8ehr5

It's got all the tossability of a Miata ...with blown shocks... and all-season tires...on a gravel road....without all of the soulless reliability. The body can be inverted and used for bathing. And weekends are overrated.

Amazing the price a (big) project car can go for!

Very rare Jowett Jupiter - needs a little work too  ;)

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170050513956&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=007

Stephen M

Yikes. I'd buy the Jupiter, but my wife has a Saturn, and I have a 1 planet-named car limit.

Anyone need a parts-getter?

Runs and drives (both!) for only $850. That's less than 3 bucks a cube!

Just parts getter truck - hopefully one will suffice.

This car isn't named after a planet but you'll need to move to Canada to get it. Modern day Austin Healey Sprite.

http://www.importconcern.ca/stock/100246/

Stephen M

I'd buy that Honda Beat, but I'd rather just weld a Del Sol front clip to the back half of an MR2 Spyder...it'd look just the same, but I'd have twin engined AWD goodness!

INSTEAD, someone needs to buy this hemi + transmission for their project car:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-Magnum-Hemi-SRT-8-Engine-Motor-6-1-4k-SRT8-Charger_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ020QQitemZ300053494250QQrdZ1

1) It's a Hemi.
2) It only has 4000 miles on it. Anyone who totals a new car in 4000 miles probably drove it very gently.
3) It comes with the shifter linkage and pedal assembly, so there's at least a slim chance of actually getting it to run, despite all the computerized nonsense.

Here is something for your Hemi to go into  ;D

The colour scheme is aweful  :yuck:

love this smiley btw  :yuck:

Stephen M

I'd buy that Camaro, but I already have a lawn tractor in that same paint scheme.

Instead, someone needs to build a hot rod around this:

Alfa V12 F1 Engine

It combines Alfa and Lucas bits for the ultimate in reliability, and it will scream like no V-8 lump ever could!

I have been looking for a Lucas electrics F1 motor....

It has no windshield.  It has no motor.  It has personal garage and Year One catalogs written all over it........

Wow, Billy Joe Bob even painted it to match his Bass Tracker!

I actually have a soft spot for 4th-gen F Bodies (in fact, I spent most of yesterday afternoon underneath one), but this poor bastard is about to learn that money "invested" into a project car isn't coming back in the form of resale value.

Stephen M

A Mopar project car is tempting....but the sun god RA commands you to buy this:

Stutz winged motometer!

The reserve may be a mere 2 bills, it tells the temperature, contains precious mercury, it may or may not light up, and most likely possesses dark powers. You can't afford not to buy it.

Quote from: UltraWhat possible higher authority could we appeal to than Steppenwolf?

My finger was hovering over the bid button when I remember that I can't afford $2k + divorse

Maybe instead someone could buy this Acadian. Canadian only model plus old wagons are cool again

1986 DeTomaso Innocenti Turbo

A friend of mine has a rust bucket one of these in field - could probably produce one decent car out of the two.

Ultra

If only they had let the decals off of the side, then I would have bought it for sure.

It took GM too long to answer the Mustang with the Camaro and Firebird. That it took 6 years to reply to the AMC Marlin doomed the boat-tail Riviera to the status of also-ran.
You wanna be the man, you gotta Name That Car!

Stephen M

I don't think I could "pull off" that boat tail, so to speak. So howsabout a Willys Gasser?

http://racingjunk.com/post/770078/1933-Willys-Blown-Gasser.html

Hilborn injection, 9 second quarters, and a parachute that's "rarely needed" thanks to disc brakes. What's not to love?

Words can not do justice for this one, so here's a pic:

That's right, ladies and germs, SLIDE-OUT FOAM-LINED DRAWER FOR AXE STORAGE.

Does the rest even matter? Sure, I mean, it has strobes, 110V power, and cabinets for rescue gear. That's all well and good. But it has friggin' slide out drawers with axes in them. Experts say the chance of zombie outbreak will rise 13% in 2007. Protect your loved ones today.

Someone should buy this and just add some seats and a drivetrain. Forget adding the fiberglass how cool would it be to drive in a wire mesh hot rod?
